Canada-Japan Co-op Program Online Application Form

Thank you for your interest in the Canada-Japan Co-op Program (CJCP)

Please hold off on completing the online application form until the further notification is announced on the website.

New applications will be only processed upon receipt of recommendation from CJCP consortium members.

Please read the Student Info Presentation first to learn about the Program and see the Student Eligibility Checklist if you are eligibility and meet CJCP requirements.

This is a list of current CJCP member institutions. Please check it out to see If your home institution is currently a member in the Program.

Application Steps:

1. Check the Eligibility Checklist for your application to CJCP

2.Review CJCP job postings on your home co-op program job portal to see if there is any co-op position aligning with your interest

3. Reach out to a CJCP consortium member at your home institution to advise your interest in applying to CJCP positions

4. After speaking with the CJCP Consortium member at your home institution, wait to hear from them whether your application is reviewed and recommended to CJCP

5. Upon receipt recommendation from the CJCP consortium member at your home institution, you will be asked to complete CJCP Online Application Form

6. Schedule an application intake interview and Japanese language assessment with CJCP staff

7. Pay a non-refundable application fee of $130

8. Access to CJCP job postings to apply with CJCP specific job application instructions; and

9. Students admitted to CJCP must submit their job application documents to CJCP by the closing date.

Due to visa processing which may take up to 2-3 months in Japan, CJCP hiring cycles start usually 8 months (2 terms) prior to the start date.

We have been working diligently to generate additional opportunities for students in the Social Sciences, Humanities, Tourism, and Business disciplines, in addition to those from the STEM disciplines, making it more accessible to a wider range of co-op students.

FYI: co-op opportunities vary each term depending on employers’ needs.


Students are advised to read Prospective Student Info Guide 2 – Online Application Form before filling out the online application form. 

It takes approximately 30-40 minutes to the complete the online application form.

When you decide to apply to CJCP and complete the CJCP Online Application Form:
1) Schedule an application interview with the CJCP consortium member at your home institution;
2) Upon receipt of recommendation from the CJCP consortium member at your home institution; pay your application fee of $130 then you will be scheduled an intake interview (via zoom/in-person) with CJCP staff to go over your online application and conduct a language assessment;
3) have access to job postings with CJCP specific job application instructions; and
4) apply to jobs by the application deadline (specific dates for application steps will be notified)

Students are strongly advised to review CJCP job postings first on the co-op job posting portal at your home co-op/institution to see if you find any CJCP position(s) aligning with your interest. (to ensure if there is any CJCP position you wanted to apply).
