Message from The Canada-Japan Co-op Program (CJCP)
Due to the current global pandemic, The Canada-Japan Co-op Program made the very difficult decision to extend cancellation of co-op work terms in Japan for Summer (May – August) 2021. This decision is in line with the current advice of BC Centre for Disease Control and Global Affairs Canada. It follows guidelines outlined in UBC’s Student Safety Abroad Policy. Both levels of government advise against non-essential international travel since many countries are experiencing community transmission and have varying travel restrictions in place.
Given that the Canadian and Japanese governments avoid non-essential international travel advisories look likely to remain in place for quite some time, we felt it was better to provide certainty to our participating students, employers and prospective students by making this decision now.
We will re-assess the situation for future co-op work terms in Japan and announce the decision on the website.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Yuko Nemoto, Program Coordinator at email@example.com.
